Write to support@schemasoftware.co and a person will read it. It is one person, so a reply can take a day or two — but every message is read, including the ones that turn out to be about something we got wrong.
If you are reporting something broken, the version line under About at the bottom of Settings is the single most useful thing you can include.
There is no account, and nothing to log in to
Florula has no sign-in, no password, and no profile. You did not create an account when you installed it, so there is nothing to recover, reset, or be locked out of.
Where your almanac is kept
On your phone, in a file on the device, and nowhere else. We have no copy: no server of ours holds it, and we cannot see it, restore it for you, or move it between devices. The privacy page lists the handful of times the app talks to the internet and exactly what it sends.
Getting your data out
Settings → Backup → Export.
Export writes a plain zip file: almanac.json, which
holds the place, the map you drew, every plant and every
observation, and a photos folder with the pictures.
It hands the file to the standard iOS share sheet, so you decide
where it goes — Files, mail, another app. Nothing is uploaded on
the way.
This works whether or not you have bought the app. Export is never behind the purchase.
Bringing an almanac back in
Settings → Backup → Import reads one of those export files back in. Importing restores a whole almanac rather than merging into the one you have, so it asks first if you already have data. Plants that arrive by import do not count against the free tier described below.
The base map and the satellite photograph are not in the file — they belong to the place, and they are fetched fresh. After an import, choose Draw the base map from the map’s menu to bring them back.
Moving to a new phone
If you set the new phone up with Apple’s device-to-device transfer, or restored it from an iCloud or encrypted computer backup, your almanac came across with everything else — the app’s database lives in the part of your phone those tools carry.
If you installed the app fresh with nothing restored, it starts empty. For a copy that is yours either way, export before you switch — described above — and import it on the new phone.
Deleting your data
Delete the app. Everything it holds goes with it, because there is no copy anywhere else.
The base map did not draw
The base map comes from public map services, and a fetch can fail or come back empty — a connection dropped, a service down for the afternoon, or a place none of the sources cover. The almanac works on blank paper either way: draw the grounds yourself and plant on them. To try the fetch again, choose Draw the base map from the map’s menu. The same item redraws it later if you want a fresh one.
If you skipped the address when you founded the almanac, the map’s menu offers Find this place on earth instead, and the base map follows once it knows where to look.
The free tier
The app is free to download and free to use up to 15 plants you add yourself. Nothing is crippled below that: the map, the journal, the calendar, observations and photos, import, and export are all free, on every tier.
Plants that arrive by import do not count. Neither do observations — the cap is on plants, and only the ones you added by hand.
Buying it
One payment of $4.99, once — no subscription, no renewal, nothing to cancel. It is offered from Settings → Unlock Florula any time, not only when you reach the cap.
Restoring a purchase
If you have bought it before — on another phone, or before you reinstalled — use Restore purchase in Settings rather than paying again. It asks the App Store about the Apple Account currently signed in on the device. Nothing is charged by trying.
Refunds
Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple, not by us, at reportaproblem.apple.com. If something about the app is the reason you want one, we would genuinely like to hear about it either way.
